Hidden by Water, Revealed through Bamboo - FORWORL 2025

Tracing the historical narrative of Xinzhuang as a former "hub for bamboo commerce," the site's elongated design is strategically laid out around water, forming a secluded, tranquil island. The introverted plaza design gracefully shields the interior from external commotion; it not only adeptly gathers the chi while sheltering from the wind but also ensures every space enters into a graceful dialogue with the surrounding greenery and waterscapes.
Gazing upward, the ceiling, meticulously cast from bamboo segments, links the site's local memory to a refined, contemporary architectural texture. The articulated vocabulary of bamboo joints on the exterior façade tenderly filters the vibrant daylight, shifting and dancing with the sun's journey. Light and shadow flow seamlessly between presence and absence, narrating the elegant poetry of a time touched by quiet grace.
